The duration of the fellowships is for a continuous period (other than federal holidays and weekends) of eight (8) to twelve (12) continuous weeks. Applicants should be aware that participants are required to conduct their research on-site.

Any requests for leave of absence from the program will only be allowed for medical or family emergency situations or to attend conferences with official approval in writing from the Lab Advisor and SFFP Program Office. Participants should not make arrangements to be away from the Lab until approval has been received in writing.

Accompanying graduate students may not begin conducting research prior to the official arrival of their professor; neither may they continue conducting research once their professor has made his/her final departure from the facility.

All U.S. Department of the Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program participants at the Air Force Research Laboratory Directorates, Air Force Test Center, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the Air Force Institute of Technology are considered guest investigators and are subject to Air Force regulations governing visiting scientists.
